Women Make History
11:30 a.m. at The Garlands
Join us for lunch and to watch "Iron Jawed Angels," an HBO movie that recounts the struggle of two activists leading the Suffragist movement to secure women’s voting
rights in 1920 through the passage of the 19th amendment.
The movie will be followed by remarks from Willard R. Helander, Clerk of Lake County.
Ms. Helander will discuss the current state of voting in Lake County and efforts to encourage all citizens to vote.
The program is co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women Barrington Branch.

Immigration

Attend our informational meeting on the history of immigration as we discuss the issues considered in formulating immigration policy. The local Immigration Study Committee will review and present material that was produced by the League of Women Voters of United States Immigration Study Committee.
This background will prepare us for consensus at our November meeting.

You and your ideas are needed for our meeting to propose issues, both local and national, to be addressed in the upcoming
year. Our Board will use these suggestions to prepare a proposed program for consideration at our annual meeting in May.
The LWVUS Board will evaluate our suggestions with those of Leagues throughout the United States to prepare a proposed program for convention
in June.
