The information in this Guide was obtained by the League of Women Voters of the Barrington Area (LWVBA) through a survey of the preschools and day care centers with a zip code of 60010, plus the Buehler YMCA Preschool in Palatine, which serves the Barrington area. This survey was conducted in 2004-05.

Please be advised that the LWVBA does not endorse or recommend a particular preschool or day care center.

The League is a volunteer organization that is nonpartisan and never supports or opposes any political party or candidate. The League does take action, however, on governmental issues that it has thoroughly studied and on which it has reached general agreement. Membership in the League of Women Voters of the Barrington Area is open to any person who subscribes to the purposes and policy of the League. Local membership automatically enrolls the member in the county, state, and national leagues.

Nonpartisan Political Policy

The purpose of the League of Women Voters is to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government. The League is a nonpartisan political organization: nonpartisan in that it never supports or opposes any candidates or political party; political in that it does act on those governmental issues selected by its members and on which a position has been reached through study and member agreement.

The League believes that participation in the activities of our political parties is an essential ingredient of citizen responsibility and urges its members to work in the party of their choice. All members, unless otherwise restricted, are encouraged to participate in any political party or governmental activity to the fullest degree, provided they act as individuals and not in the name of the League.

The League of Women Voters of the Barrington Area expresses its gratitude to Edith Auchter for preparing the Internet presentation of our League.
